Kandy Perahera

Seeing and participating in Sri Lankan Festivals is one of the best ways to experience Sri Lanka culture, traditions, life and it's people. The “Kandy Perahera” or procession held in the month of August, is arguably Sri Lanka’s best show case festival. The festival dates back to the 4th century AD, when the Tooth Relic of the Buddha was brought to the island in the reign of Kirti Sri Meghavanna. He decreed that an annual perahera be held in honour of the Sacred Relic.

Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa)

The left upper canine tooth of the Lord Buddha is currently housed at the stunning 17th-century Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa).
